Ferrari World Abu Dhabi marks a Guinness World Record win, with Formula Rossa setting a new benchmark for launch speed

Abu Dhabi does not do things by halves. And now, it has another world record to prove it. Ferrari World Yas Island has just clocked a new Guinness World Records title, and it is all about speed. Formula Rossa, the park’s headline ride, now officially holds the record for the highest speed achieved by a rollercoaster launch. It rockets from 0 to 240km/h in just 4.9 seconds, which, if you have ever been on it, feels less like a number and more like your face trying to keep up with your body.

The record was confirmed during a ceremony at the park, where officials handed over the certificate to Miral’s chief commercial officer Farid Al Qaiwani and Ferrari World’s deputy general manager Vinod Kolani. It is a neat moment for a ride that has long been the main character on Yas Island.

Because Formula Rossa is not new. It has been here, quietly terrifying people for years. But this latest recognition puts a fresh spotlight on just how extreme it really is. The launch is designed to mimic the start of a Formula 1 race, and it shows. You are strapped in, there is a pause, and then suddenly you are gone. No warm-up, no easing into it, just full throttle.

It is that mix of precision and pure adrenaline that keeps people coming back. You do it once, swear never again, then find yourself back in the queue.

With this new record, Ferrari World tightens its grip on the global theme park scene. And for Abu Dhabi, it is another headline that says the same thing loud and clear. If it is fast, big, or record-breaking, chances are it is happening here.
