From the permanent closure of Anantara World Islands to transformations at Park Hyatt, Armani and Burj Al Arab, these are the big changes to know about
Dubai’s luxury hotel scene is going through a serious glow-up right now. And that means a handful of headline names are temporarily closing their doors. Whether you’re planning a staycation, hosting visiting guests or just want to stay in the know, here’s your complete guide to the hotel closures happening across the city right now.
Burj Al Arab

It’s been a symbol of uncompromising luxury on Dubai’s hotel scene for more than 25 years, but the Burj Al Arab has now temporarily closed its doors to undergo an exciting restoration. The sail-shaped hotel, which first opened in 1999, will be closed for 18 months while its luxurious rooms, restaurants and leisure spaces are transformed. French interior architect Tristan Auer will lead the renovation, bringing the property back to life while preserving its distinctive character and signature opulence.
Expected reopening: Late 2027
Park Hyatt Dubai

As the final phase of its multi-year upgrade takes shape, the beloved Park Hyatt Dubai will close its doors on May 1. Set along the banks of Dubai Creek, Park Hyatt Dubai has long been recognised as one of the city’s most serene and sophisticated destinations, but it will take a temporary break, reopening later this year as a beautifully reimagined destination. So, if you’ve been meaning to visit for a lazy weekend brunch or a staycation, now is your last chance for a while.
Expected reopening: Late 2026
Armani Hotel Dubai

The world’s first Armani-branded hotel, spread across 39 floors of Burj Khalifa, suspended operations from April 1, 2026 for a comprehensive refurbishment. This isn’t a light touch-up, it’s described as a complete transformation of the property, which will affect rooms, restaurants and public areas. As per the hotel, they’re targeting an end-of-year reopening, although bookings online are only available from January 4, 2027.
Expected reopening: Late 2026/ Early 2027

A long-standing favourite in the Media City crowd, the Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Media City will shut on April 30 for renovations, with catering services continuing until the end of the year. The hotel is expected to reopen under a different operator group from 2027, per a statement from the brand issued to Hotelier Middle East. So, if you’re a regular at ICON Sports Bar or Certo, now’s the time for a farewell visit.
Expected reopening: 2027, under new management
Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort

The first hotel to open on Dubai’s World Islands development ceased operations on 10 April, with operator Minor Hotels citing a combination of external factors, per The National. The resort had been one of the more unique escapes in Dubai, a genuine private island experience, so its closure marks the end of a chapter for the World Islands. However, those looking to experience getaways on the archipelago can still visit Voco Monaco and Voco Nice for a more accessible, lifestyle-led break, while soon-to-open Zuhha Resort promises elevated luxury stays on the World Islands.
