Dubai public transport is getting a big upgrade with an Airport Express Line
There’s a new proposed Dubai Metro line to connect more areas of Dubai and it’s about to change the game. The RTA has invited consultants to study and design a brand new 55km Airport Express Line to link Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC) according to Khaleej Times.
The proposed line would run from the current Red Line Metro station in DXB in Al Garhoud to DWC in Jebel Ali. There would be five stations
According to a report by MEED that was issued by the RTA, the proposed route would pass through Al Jaddaf, run along Al Khail Road to a new station at Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), and continue to DWC. Two tracks will be branching out, with one linking JVC to Emirates Golf Club and another going towards Business Bay.
The report also said that the new line could also offer passenger check-in facilities, baggage drop-off and security screenings, in an attempt to widen the airport-rail travel service. DWC is also being designed with its own underground train system, while earlier plans included a 14-station automated people mover to transport passengers between terminals and concourses.
This announcement comes ahead of the Etihad Rail revealing the full list of stations to come in the 2026 launch.
