A UAE initiative aimed at providing food support to vulnerable communities
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the world’s largest date bar factory, a UAE project aimed at combating global hunger.

In a post on Sheikh Mohammed’s official X account, the Ruler of Dubai stated that work has begun on the large date bar factory. He stated, ‘The goal is to produce 150 million date-fortified food units annually, dedicated to children suffering from malnutrition and to combat hunger in the least fortunate communities.’
He added, “God has blessed the UAE and the region with this noble palm tree. We have lived on it and many communities have lived on it.” He then stated the UAE will transform dates into a ‘high-value food product that contributes to fighting hunger around the world.’
He ended his post with, ‘God is the One Who grants success, first and last.’
The project is part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) – a humanitarian organisation launched by Sheikh Mohammed, bringing together a wide range of charitable, relief, and development programmes under one platform.
Along with the social media post, Sheikh Mohammed also shared photos where he is seen with HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance; Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority; and HE Mohammed Al Gergawi, Secretary-General of MBRGI. The royals were photographed getting updates on the UAE Date project.
