In the post, Sheikh Mohammed shared details on the new Blue Line stating that 10,000 employees and engineers racing against time to launch this line by 9-9-2029.

He added that the major new projects are designed to reshape Dubai, spanning the new airport, future transport lines, digital infrastructure, and government services powered by self-driving artificial intelligence technologies. The Dubai Ruler also noted that more projects will be launched in the coming months.
He ended his post by saying, ‘We are the world’s most future-ready city. Whoever bets on Dubai, bets on the future.’
Sheikh Mohammed shared that the Blue Line project, which costs a whopping 20.5 billion dirhams, will serve nine vital areas with a population of 1,000,000. It aims to reduce congestion by 20%.
It will feature 14 stations – 7 will be elevated and 4 underground. Three of these stations will be transfer stations.
In total, the Dubai Metro Blue Line will stretch 30km – 14.5km will be above gound, and 15.5km will be underground.
Dubai Metro Blue Line

The Blue Line for Dubai’s Metro was first discussed back in 2006, along with other potential lines and the expansion of the existing Red and Green lines. Plans changed amid the global economic slowdown, but as of 2025, the Blue Line is officially back on track.
The Blue Line will connect to the existing Centrepoint station on the Red Line and to the Creek station on the Green Line. It will include three interchange stations: Al Jaddaf, Al Rashidiya and International City 1.
From Centrepoint, the Blue Line will run through Mirdif, where there will be a station (most likely) outside Mirdif City Centre Mall. From here it will pass through Al Warqa and then Dubai International City 1, Dubai International City 2 and 3, and Dubai Silicon Oasis before arriving at its last station at Dubai International Academic City.
The Blue Line aims to start operations on September 9, 2029 – an ode to the opening of the Dubai Metro, coinciding with the 20th anniversary.
This Dubai Metro Blue Line station will be the tallest in the world

In June 2025, Sheikh Mohammed attended the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the first Dubai Metro Blue Line station: Emaar Properties Metro Station.
Emaar secured the naming rights for the station for ten years, starting from its official inauguration in 2029. This station will mark the starting point of the 30-kilometre Blue Line, which will increase the Dubai Metro’s entire length to 131 kilometres across 78 stations.
