A new line is coming to Dubai Metro: The Gold Line

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has revealed plans for a brand-new Dubai Metro Gold Line — a major expansion set to transform how the city moves.

Stretching 42 kilometres, the new line will pass through 15 key strategic areas across Dubai, significantly improving connectivity between some of the emirate’s fastest-growing neighbourhoods. Once complete, it’s expected to serve around 1.5 million residents, making daily commutes smoother and cutting travel times across the city.

The project will also play a key role in supporting Dubai’s rapid urban growth, with links to 55 major real estate developments currently under construction. As new communities continue to take shape, the Gold Line is designed to ensure they’re seamlessly connected from day one.

With a total investment of AED 34 billion, the expansion will increase the overall length of the Dubai Metro by 25%, marking one of the most significant upgrades since the network first launched. It’s another step in Dubai’s long-term vision to create a fully integrated, efficient and sustainable public transport system.

The Gold Line is scheduled for completion on September 9, 2032 — and once finished, it’s set to reshape how millions of people travel across the city. The announcement reflects Dubai’s continued commitment to future-focused infrastructure, reinforcing its ambition to be one of the best cities in the world to live, work and visit.
