Louvre Abu Dhabi launches new tour with access inside its dome

You can now explore Louvre Abu Dhabi differently, with a guided tour that includes rare access inside its famous dome

For the first time, Louvre Abu Dhabi is letting visitors step inside its most famous feature. The museum has launched a new Architectural Experience, and the headline moment is exactly that. You get to walk within the iconic dome, the vast lattice that has become one of Abu Dhabi’s most recognisable sights.

It is a rare perspective. From below, the dome is all filtered light and quiet drama. From within, it is something else entirely. You start to see how it works, how the layers come together, how the light is shaped and softened into that signature “rain of light”.

The guided experience is built around the architecture, it’s led by an educator and it moves through seven stops across the museum. The experience explores the design and the cultural references tied to the UAE.

It also puts the spotlight on the people and ideas that shaped the museum, giving context to a building most of us know by sight but not by story. Each guest also receives a copy of Louvre Abu Dhabi: Story of an Architectural Project, which adds detail without getting in the way. Meanwhile, tours run every Saturday in small groups, so it feels considered and unhurried. Because of that, comfortable clothes and flat shoes because this experience is a walk, not a wander.
