Spend Ramadan nights on Saadiyat Island with storytelling, cultural sessions and late night dining at Zayed National Museum
The Zayed National Museum feels different at night. As the call to prayer fades and the evening settles in, the grounds at Zayed National Museum come alive with quiet energy. Families stroll between the galleries, children gather around storytellers and the gardens fill with the warm glow of lantern light. This Ramadan, the Zayed National Museum is opening its doors after dark for its first Ramadan Nights programme.

Running from 8:30pm to midnight until the 20th day of Ramadan, the experience spreads across the museum’s indoor spaces and the open air of Al Masar Garden. The focus is simple. Bring people together. Slow things down. Celebrate the traditions that shape the holy month.
Visitors can expect live performances, heritage storytelling and hands on workshops led by Emirati creatives. There are traditional games for children, film screenings and cultural sessions that explore the meaning and rituals of Ramadan. One evening you might watch a shadow show inspired by the moon. On another, you could sit in a grandfather’s majlis and listen to stories passed down through generations.
Out in Al Masar Garden, the atmosphere shifts into something softer and more social. The space stays open until midnight, with restaurant and café pop ups serving everything from light bites to sweet treats. It is the kind of setting that invites you to linger, talk and let the night stretch a little longer.
The museum itself also keeps extended hours, opening from 10am to 10pm throughout Ramadan. Evening tours and activities make it easy to explore the galleries after Iftar.
Entry to Ramadan Nights is free with a museum ticket, although some activations carry a small fee.
If you are looking for a Ramadan outing that feels meaningful rather than busy, this is one to add to your calendar. It is thoughtful, family friendly and quietly special, just like the season itself.
