Will petrol prices rise in the UAE this April 2026

Will we be lining up to fuel up on March 31 or April 1?

Towards the end of every month, car owners in the UAE keep their eyes peeled for one thing: the petrol price announcement.

The petrol prices in the country for the following month are always announced on the last day of the month. If prices are set to rise, people stop by the petrol stations to fill the tank up before the month ends. If they drop, they usually wait until the new prices come into effect before heading to the pump.

So far, 2026 has seen fluctuations in the prices of fuel, sometimes decreasing and increasing, so there’s no guessing.

However, with oil costs increasing across the globe currently, many are predicting a knock-on effect here in the UAE this April 2026.

Usually, the cost of diesel is also announced alongside Super 98 and Special 95, but this month, the prices for diesel changed in the middle of the month. The price increased from Dhs2.72 to Dhs4.14 per litre – a Dhs1.42 increase.

The UAE’s Ministry of Energy first began setting the fuel prices based on average global prices in August 2015. Prior to that, the price of petrol in the UAE was subsidised by the government, which shielded consumers from global fluctuations in the cost of petrol.
