After the recent heavy rains, parts of the UAE are in for more unsettled weather this week, with high winds, blowing dust and a notable drop in temperature on the way
Just when you thought the UAE was done with dramatic weather for a while, this week has a few more surprises in store – though thankfully, heavy rain isn’t one of them. Instead, it’s a mix of coastal mist, strengthening winds and a sharp mid-week temperature drop that’s worth planning around.
UAE weather for the week
Monday (April 13) starts with cloud and the chance of some light rain still lingering over eastern and southern areas through the day. By nightfall, however, humidity builds along the coast and inland, with the NCM flagging a real chance of mist forming overnight and into Tuesday morning – so if you have an early start this week, expect reduced visibility on the roads and allow a little extra time.
From Tuesday, the wind takes centre stage. Gusts building to around 40km/h will kick up dust and sand across parts of the country, making for uncomfortable conditions if you’re spending any time outside. Seas in the Arabian Gulf will also turn rough by the afternoon, so it’s worth reconsidering any plans that involve being out on the water.

Wednesday is the day to watch most closely. Temperatures drop noticeably, winds strengthen further to 45km/h, and blowing dust is expected to reduce horizontal visibility across the UAE quite significantly. The Arabian Gulf is forecast to be rough to very rough at times, and the Sea of Oman won’t be far behind. It is, in short, a day to keep plans as flexible as possible and to stay across the latest NCM updates if you have anything important on.
Thursday brings some welcome relief. Winds ease, skies clear and the overall picture is considerably more manageable, though a little residual dust in the air is still likely, particularly with gusts reaching around 40km/h over the sea.
The bigger picture here is that April is always something of a wildcard in the UAE. The last of the winter weather systems haven’t quite let go yet, even as summer begins to nudge its way in, and this week is a fairly typical example of that push and pull.
According to the NCM, temperatures across the country are expected to climb by an average of 3-5°C compared to March as the month progresses, with low-pressure systems continuing to move through the region in the meantime. The warmer, more settled days are on their way – this week is just a reminder that we’re not quite there yet.
