The UAE schools transport fee waiver is to assist families and ease financial burden
As distance learning continues across the UAE, and as it was extended until April 17, two major school groups have stepped in to ease the financial burden on families by waiving transport fees while school buses remain off the roads. The Indian High Group of Schools has confirmed that parents will not be charged for any days where classes are conducted online under regulatory directives.
Speaking on the move to Khaleej Times, CEO Punit MK Vasu acknowledged the challenges many families are currently facing. The decision, he said, reflects the group’s commitment to supporting its community during a period of uncertainty.
The group operates an extensive transport network across Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, employing a large number of bus captains, assistants and maintenance staff — all of whom are impacted while services are paused.
Another school group follows suit
In a similar move, Woodlem Education has also announced a transport fee waiver across all its UAE schools starting from April.
The initiative will benefit students across its eight schools and two nurseries during the period of online learning. Founder and Managing Director Noufal Ahmed described the move as a “compassionate and timely measure” aimed at supporting parents during a challenging time.
The group added that the waiver will remain in place only for the duration of distance learning and will be reviewed as the situation evolves.
Supporting families beyond the classroom
With schools across the UAE continuing remote learning, many parents are adjusting to home-based schedules while managing additional costs. These fee waivers offer some welcome relief — and signal a broader effort from education providers to support families beyond the classroom during uncertain times.
