The huge project, valued at over 4 billion dirhams aims to create a city that truly works for people

The World Government Summit is currently underway in Dubai, and among the many major developments planned for the city, the 2030 Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap stands out as one of the most significant.

The roadmap was launched by Dubai Municipality and reviewed by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It includes a portfolio of projects valuing more than four billion dirhams, all set to meet the evolving needs of residents, visitors, and tourists, while positioning nature as a core component of the city’s long-term growth and liveability.

Here’s an overview of the 2030 Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap

Dubai’s new Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap is all about making the city greener, smarter, and more liveable. From parks and beaches to waterfronts, trees, agriculture, and advanced recycling systems, it’s designed to boost public health, protect biodiversity, and create a city that truly works for people

Dubai Municipality aims to plant over 1.5 million trees across the city over the next five years, implement more than 45 landscaping and beautification projects, and even add 120 new parks to the city spanning 3 million square metres.

For active dwellers, the plan includes the addition of 200 sports and recreational spaces seamlessly integrated into green networks.

Want more beaches? The roadmap includes more than 15 major development projects that will revitalise coastlines. Additionally, three new beach destinations will be added annually. Facilities, services and amenities will increase by 400%, while the beach capacity itself will increase by 150%. Plans are also in place to extend the length of beachfront walking, jogging, and cycling tracks by 285%.

His Excellency Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, stated, “Our goal is for Dubai to be a city built for people, growing in harmony with nature – a resilient and sustainable city that delivers the highest quality of life for current and future generations.”

We can’t wait to hear more about these upcoming projects!
