Residents in the UAE can now sign up for Elon Musk’s high-speed Starlink internet service
Ultra-fast satellite internet service Starlink has officially launched in the UAE, according to the company’s website – giving residents a new way to get online across the country.
The service, backed by Elon Musk, is designed to deliver fast and reliable internet, particularly in areas where traditional fibre or mobile networks may be limited or less consistent. With the UAE now appearing on Starlink’s official availability map, it confirms the service is live and ready for users to sign up.
What does it cost?
Starlink offers a few different pricing options depending on your needs. The “Residential Lite” plan is priced at Dh230 per month, while standard residential packages start from around Dh300 per month.
Business plans are also available, with pricing starting from approximately Dh248 per month.
To get started, users will need to purchase a Starlink Standard Kit, which is priced at Dh1,465. This is a one-time cost for the equipment and initial set-up. Once installed, users will then pay their chosen monthly subscription fee.
What is Starlink?
Starlink is developed by SpaceX, Musk’s space technology company. It works by using a large network of low-Earth orbit satellites to deliver internet coverage from space.
Because these satellites operate much closer to Earth than traditional satellite systems, Starlink is able to offer faster speeds and lower latency. In simple terms, that means smoother streaming, quicker downloads and a more reliable connection.
Where is it available?
The UAE joins more than 150 countries and territories where Starlink is already available. The service is particularly useful for remote or hard-to-reach areas, but it can also be used in cities as an alternative internet option.
Did you know?
Starlink has already made an appearance in the UAE before its official residential launch. Last year, the service was introduced on select Emirates and flydubai flights, offering passengers onboard Wi-Fi powered by the satellite network.
