The 1 million sqm destination features a central lake, camping facilities, play areas, an outdoor cinema and 14km of walking and cycling tracks
Dubai is getting a brand-new outdoor attraction, and it’s one that blends nature, wellbeing and the breathtaking local landscape. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has just unveiled the Al Layan Oasis development, a gorgeous new outdoor destination that will immerse residents and visitors in Dubai’s stunning desertscape.
Spanning an impressive one million square metres, at the heart of Al Layan Oasis will be a vast lake covering more than 250,000 square metres. The project is designed to celebrate the natural beauty of the desert while promoting sustainability, outdoor living and quality of life, which are all core pillars of Dubai’s long-term vision.
Al Layan Oaisis camping experience
Located around 50 minutes from the city centre and close to Al Marmoom (where you’ll also find Dubai’s oh-so-Instagrammable Love Lakes), the destination will feature 14 kilometres of walking and cycling tracks, including four kilometres of elevated paths offering panoramic views.
The development is divided into four distinct zones, with each promising something for all ages. The Gathering Oasis will host open-air cinemas, an amphitheatre, food trucks and event spaces, while the Family Oasis focuses on play areas and relaxation spots. The Camping Oasis will accommodate up to 100 caravans and include an environmental education centre, and the Recreation Oasis will bring together activities, shops and services in a natural setting.
With a strong focus on eco-tourism, mental and physical wellbeing, and community connection, Al Layan Oasis is set to become a must-visit destination when it opens for visitors. Although we don’t have a timeline for its opening, when it does, it’s set to welcome 330,000 visitors per year.
New outdoor destinations
As Dubai continues to expand its outdoor destinations to promote resident and visitor wellbeing, we can expect some exciting new developments. Especially exciting for beach lovers, the new Jumeirah 1 Beach project has just opened, inviting guests to discover new walking and cycling tracks and world-class leisure facilities.
Umm Suqeim Beach is also set to be transformed with a recently announced Dhs500 million megaproject set to turn Umm Suqeim Beach into an iconic shoreline destination.
