Abu Dhabi Showdown Week gets a comedy boost as Russell Peters returns for a one night only arena show
Clear your calendar and warm up your laugh muscles. Russell Peters is heading back to Abu Dhabi and he’s bringing the jokes with him. The global stand up star lands at Etihad Arena on Yas Island for one night only on October 25, with a show that promises quick fire punchlines, brutal honesty and plenty of crowd banter. If you’ve ever seen a clip of Peters teasing someone in the front row, you’ll know nobody is safe. That’s half the fun.
Peters built his name on sharp observations about culture, family and the everyday awkward stuff we all recognise. Parents with strong opinions. Relatives who ask too many questions. Travel horror stories. He turns real life into comedy gold, switching accents and stories at lightning speed.
Over the years, he’s sold out some of the world’s biggest venues, including Madison Square Garden and London’s O2 Arena. Rolling Stone named him one of the 50 Best Comics of All Time. His specials, from Outsourced and Red, White and Brown to Almost Famous and Deported, have become fan favourites, watched and rewatched on late nights when you need a proper laugh.
He’s also a familiar face on screen, popping up in films like Chef and Source Code, and more recently hosting his podcast Culturally Cancelled and starring in Netflix’s The Indian Detective. It’s not his first time in the UAE either. Peters played Dubai last year and clearly liked the welcome enough to come back for more.
The Abu Dhabi date forms part of the wider Abu Dhabi Showdown Week, which is filling the city with headline acts, nightlife and big ticket events. Peters is one of the first major names on the bill.
