The beloved Spanish restaurant is set to debut in DIFC this January
It might only be January, but Dubai is already gearing up for one of the most anticipated restaurant openings of the year: Barrafina. The much-loved, London-born Spanish restaurant will open in DIFC’s Gate Village on Monday January 26, and reservations are now open.
Marking the first international opening of Barrafina in almost 20 years, Barrafina DIFC arrives under the umbrella of Anthem Hospitality Group, bringing with it the counter-dining magic that made the original a global favourite. With just 55 seats, this is an intentionally intimate affair, where the chefs take centre stage in an open-theatre kitchen set behind the restaurant’s iconic counter seating.

The design stays true to Barrafina’s unmistakable aesthetic. A marble and stainless-steel counter, red leather stools, and striking artwork by British artist Kate Boxer come together to create a space that feels chic yet relaxed.
What’s On the menu
On the menu, diners can expect all the hits that have earned Barrafina its cult status. Signature dishes from the flagship menu will all make their way to Dubai, including the perfect tortilla, gambas rojas, and chicken thighs with romesco. Alongside these classics, Dubai-exclusive creations to look forward to include daily clams with salsa verde and a premium selection of Galician dry-aged beef.
Between services, Barrafina will switch gears with a pared-back para picar snack menu – ideal for late afternoons in DIFC. Think white anchovy tostadas, prawn croquetas, and indulgent Spanish bikini sandwiches layered with tuna belly and caviar, best enjoyed on the terrace with a chilled drink in hand.
Speaking of beverages, the focus is firmly Spanish, with a curated list of Spanish wines, vermouths, boutique cava producers, and a concise menu of classic cocktails designed to complement the food.
