Yet another ‘Only in Dubai’ moment to add to the list…
If you didn’t know, Burj Al Arab isn’t just a luxury hotel, it’s also home to one of the world’s most iconic helipads. Usually reserved for helicopters and possibly some high-gloss photoshoots, the helipad was taken over by something far louder – a Red Bull racing car.
Check out the video shared by Oracle Red Bull Racing (and it doesn’t look like AI.)
The video, posted on April 12, 2026 shows the Red Bull racing car doing doughnuts 210 metres above sea level on the compact helipad complete with smoke and a roaring engine.
It’s a tight stage for a car built for high-speed straights and sweeping corners – making the precision of the stunt all the more impressive. To top it all off, the driver even let one of his hands off the wheel to flash a thumbs up – now that’s brave. But this is Red Bull after all.
*Only in Dubai: The wild, fancy and totally extra things to do in the city*
This isn’t the first time Red Bull Racing has turned heads with headline-grabbing locations.
Back in March 2023, Red Bull also picked the Burj Al Arab as a landing strip for pilot Luke Czepiela who landed a plane on the 27 metre-wide helipad. Czepiela practiced a nerve-racking 650 landings before ending up just inches from the pad’s edge.
We’ve also seen two tennis stars, Roger Federer and Andre Agassi play a little friendly game of tennis on the helipad. It also hosted an exclusive art exhibition by global artist Sacha Jafri in partnership with art visionary Marcus Schaefer back in 2022. And in 2017, the Burj Al Arab helipad turned into a boxing ring for boxer Anthony Joshua.
While everything we’ve mentioned so far is impressive, we’re pretty sure the Red Bull Racing car doing doughnuts might top the list.
Our only wish? To see it in person. (Hey, Red Bull! Can you do that again, please?)
