Cool collabs, free tours and so much more

The final weekend of the Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival is taking place from Friday February 6 until Sunday, February 8 and promises cultural tours, workshops and unmissable foodie pop-ups. This year’s theme is ‘Cvilizations’ and explores the diversity of cultural forms and the shared aspirations that bind humanity together.

Here are 5 things you won’t want to miss this weekend.

  1. Ras Al Khaimah Contemporary Art Binnale

At the heart of the cultural happenings this year is the inaugural Ras Al Khaimah Contemporary Art Biennale. Curated by Sharon Toval, the month-long exhibition explores how cultures evolve, intersect, and leave creative legacies across time and place. Explore thought provoking works by Sutee Kunavichayanont and Stefano Cagol, photographers such as Hicham Benohoud and Marie Hudelot and artists including Hannan Abu-Hussein, Sophy Abu Shakra, Kawita Vatanajyankur, and Francesca Fini.

  1. Free heritage tours

Step back in time and explore the rich history of Al Jazeera Al Hamra Heritage Village with a one-hour guided tour. Led by an expert guide, learn about the stories, architecture and traditions that make this part of the emirates so unique, and gain a deeper appreciation for Ras Al Khaimah’s cultural heritage as you go.

10am and 4pm, February 6, 7 and 8, free.

  1. The Hidden Table x Pine

This year’s festival adds another sensory layer to the creative journey with the launch of The Hidden Table. Blurring the lines between gastronomy and art, each week welcomes a new restaurant to a pop-up space. Last up is Pine, born in the verdant landscapes of Northumberland, it’s the brainchild of chefs Cal Byerley and Ian Waller and celebrates the seasonal bounty foraged from the wild and grown in the restaurant’s own kitchen garden. In Ras Al Khaimah, the Michelin Star restaurant will bring the same spirit of place to diners on February 6.

7pm, February 6 and 7, Dhs350.

  1. Tale of the Threads

Guided by artist Zahra Saleh, explore the world of civilizations through the art of stitching with a hands-on embroidery session. Transform iconic landmarks and cultural symbols into a personal work of embroidered art. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to leave with a unique handmade piece that fuses heritage, craftmanship and storytelling.

1pm, February 6, Dhs100.

  1. Outdoor film screening

Rounding out Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival will be a free film screening in the calm serenity of the courtyard. Free to attend, snag a bean bag and watch a cultural film under the stars.

8pm, February 8, free.
