The much-loved homegrown restaurant has been a pioneer in sustainable dining for 12 years
It’s been known and loved on Dubai’s dining scene for over a decade, but as of Tuesday, March 31, BOCA is officially closing its doors.
And if you’re making dinner plans this week, the stalwart DIFC restaurant is serving up a closing week set menu, so you can enjoy its signature dishes one last time. Available daily from lunchtime onwards from March 20 until March 31, the set menu is priced at Dhs250, including unlimited selected drinks from the cellar, making it a wallet-friendly way to say goodbye.
Founded and led by Omar Shihab, BOCA began life as a Dubai-born tapas bar in DIFC in 2014, but quickly became an industry leader in sustainably-led dining, racking up countless awards for its efforts, including a MICHELIN Green Star.
The restaurant first announced back in February that it would be closing its doors after almost 12 years. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the restaurant confirmed its closure in DIFC, reflecting on over a decade of enduring evolving tastes, culinary landscapes and a growing scene. The post also paid touching tribute to the team, suppliers and collaborators, as well as guests who ‘supported, challenged and celebrated with us along the way.’
“Over the years, BOCA grew into more than a dining room. It became a platform for ideas, championing climate resilience, responsible sourcing and a more sustainable food culture in our region,” the post added.
But it’s not all bad news. While the restaurant may be concluding its chapter in DIFC, the post teased that “Conversations are underway, and we look forward to shaping the next chapter with partners who share this vision.” So, hopefully we’ll see BOCA 2.0 find a new home somewhere across the city very soon.
