The warning alert from the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) can come at any time, and if you receive it when you are out driving, the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Centre Abu Dhabi (ADCMC) shares what to do.

The guide was shared via the official ADCMC channel.
- Reduce your speed.
- Avoid stopping in exposed or crowded areas.
- If there is a nearby building, move towards it and follow the shelter-in-place instructions inside.
However, if you are unable to reach a safe building:
- Stop the vehicle in a location away from tall buildings and glass facades.
- Remain inside the vehicle with the windows and doors closed.
- Lower your body position as much as possible to reduce exposure to fragments.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a cloth or tissue if there is dust or smoke.
- Avoid stopping near poles, billboards, or fuel stations.
Next, ADCMC said the public should wait for the official notification that the emergency has ended, after which normal activities can resume.
ADCMC also urged the public not to avoid sharing unverified information on social media and to avoid posting videos or images that may cause concern or spread rumours.
*NCEMA announces change to National Early Warning System Sound alert*
What is the UAE National Early Warning System Sound?
The National Early Warning System Sound is basically the official alert tone that the UAE uses to warn residents of emergencies.
The warning messages you receive will direct you to seek immediate shelter in the closest secure building and to steer away from windows, doors and open areas.
A follow-up safety message is usually also issued out to thank you for your cooperation and to reassure you that the situation is currently safe and normal activities may resume while continuing to remain cautious and take necessary precautions.
