The warning alert from the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) can come at any time, and if you receive it when you are in the office, the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Centre Abu Dhabi (ADCMC) shares what to do.

The guide was shared via the official ADCMC channel.

  • Stop working immediately.
  • Remain calm and do not panic.
  • Keep away from windows and glass.
  • Move to the building’s basement if available.
  • Use the stairs only.

Next, ADCMC said the public should wait for the official notification that the emergency has ended, after which normal activities can resume (and you can return to your office.)

ADCMC also urged the public not to avoid sharing unverified information on social media and to avoid posting videos or images that may cause concern or spread rumours.

What is the UAE National Early Warning System Sound?

The National Early Warning System Sound is basically the official alert tone that the UAE uses to warn residents of emergencies.

The warning messages you receive will direct you to seek immediate shelter in the closest secure building and to steer away from windows, doors and open areas.

A follow-up safety message is usually also issued out to thank you for your cooperation and to reassure you that the situation is currently safe and normal activities may resume while continuing to remain cautious and take necessary precautions.
