The warning alert from the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) can come at any time, and if you receive it when you are out at a mall or any other enclosed space, the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Centre Abu Dhabi (ADCMC) shares what to do.

The below guide was shared via the official ADCMC channel.

  • Follow the site’s security and safety instructions
  • Use the stairs and avoid using elevators
  • Move to interior areas away from glass

Wait for the official notification that the emergency has ended and that normal activities can resume.

You will need to follow the guidance as per the venue you are currently located at.

ADCMC advises the public to follow official guidelines to stay safe and to help protect others.

The UAE has also urged the public not to avoid sharing unverified information on social media and to avoid posting videos or images that may cause concern or spread rumours.

If you get a warning when driving, head to this article here where the ADCMC outlines exactly what you should do.

What is the UAE National Early Warning System Sound?

The National Early Warning System Sound is basically the official alert tone that the UAE uses to warn residents of emergencies.

The warning messages you receive will direct you to seek immediate shelter in the closest secure building and to steer away from windows, doors and open areas.

A follow-up safety message is also issued out to thank you for your cooperation and to reassure you that the situation is currently safe and normal activities may resume while continuing to remain cautious and take necessary precautions.

And remember, always stay up to date with official accounts, and avoid sharing information from unknown sources.
