Musical fans, get ready: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is coming to Abu Dhabi this summer, adding to an already thrilling 2026 lineup. Not only do we have Wicked the Musical to look forward to this week in Dubai, but Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic CATS also lands in May in Abu Dhabi – making it a year that’s truly a gift that keeps on giving.
The musical is making its debut at Etihad Arena, Yas Island, from August 28 to September 6, 2026.

What’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory about
Based on Roald Dahl’s iconic novel, the musical follows young Charlie Bucket as he wins the ultimate prize: a golden ticket into the mysterious chocolate factory of the eccentric Willy Wonka.
Inside awaits a world where chocolate rivers flow, squirrels sort nuts with military precision, and mischievous Oompa-Loompas keep the rules firmly in check. Expect dazzling visuals, imaginative stagecraft, and larger-than-life characters that bring Dahl’s story vividly to life.
Fan of the 1971 film? You will be pleased to hear that the musical features beloved songs, including Pure Imagination, The Candy Man, and I’ve Got a Golden Ticket, alongside original music by Grammy and Tony Award winners Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the creative duo behind Hairspray and Mary Poppins Returns.
The production is also a visual spectacle, featuring cutting-edge hologauze 3D technology and illusion design by Las Vegas-based stage wizard Tim Clothier. The result is a factory that feels immersive, playful, and delightfully unpredictable – just as Willy Wonka intended.
