Abu Dhabi Police outline safety and traffic plans to keep New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations running smoothly
Whether you are counting down with fireworks, a beachfront party or a late night drive home, Abu Dhabi Police wants one thing this New Year’s Eve: get there safely.
Abu Dhabi Police has confirmed it is ready to secure New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations across the emirate, with a comprehensive safety and traffic plan now in place. The plan, developed with strategic partners, focuses on keeping people safe while easing traffic flow in busy areas expected to draw large crowds. Tourist hotspots, shopping centres and major roads will be closely monitored throughout the celebrations.
Brigadier Mohammed Dahy Al-Hamiri, Director of the Central Operations Sector, said a joint security plan will cover public spaces and traffic movement to ensure safety and security during the festivities.

Traffic patrols and security teams will be out in force, with officers taking extra measures to reduce accidents and congestion. Abu Dhabi Police has urged motorists to stay alert, follow traffic laws and speed limits, avoid using mobile phones while driving and keep a safe distance between vehicles.
Authorities also warned against unsafe behaviour such as reckless driving, excessive noise and the use of party sprays, which can pose risks in crowded areas.
The Command and Control Centre within the Central Operations Sector has completed its preparations for New Year’s Eve and the start of the new year. Colonel Ali Muftah Al-Oraimi, Director of the Operations Department, said the team has equipped the operations room with advanced technology and trained personnel to manage celebrations and respond to incidents.
As the countdown begins, police have one final reminder: celebrate hard if you like, but follow the rules, look out for others and make sure everyone makes it home safely.
