The UAE capital is officially the world’s safest city on the planet for 2026, beating 400 cities worldwide

Abu Dhabi does it again. For the 10th year running, the capital is crowned the safest city in the world. Late night walks feel normal, early morning jogs feel easy, and peace of mind comes standard, not as a perk.

Abu Dhabi is holding on to the top spot in Numbeo’s latest global safety rankings. The index surveys 400 cities across 150 countries, and once again the capital comes out on top.

The city ranks first for safety when walking alone, both during the day and at night. It is a statistic locals feel in their bones, whether it is a late walk home, an early morning run, or kids playing outside long after sunset.

Behind that calm confidence is a very deliberate approach to policing. Major General Ahmed Saif bin Zaitoon Al Muhairi, Commander in Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, points to advanced technology, digital transformation, and the use of AI and predictive analytics as key drivers of the city’s safety record. The focus is on staying ahead of problems before they surface, not chasing them after the fact.

Abu Dhabi Police’s proactive security strategies and constant state of readiness continue to shape daily life in the emirate. The result is a city that is not just safe on paper, but genuinely easy to live in. For a decade now, Abu Dhabi proves that security, stability, and quality of life are not buzzwords here. They are a lived reality.
