A new name is making moves in the region, and it’s one that’s known globally for doing things a little differently
Luxury lifestyle brand Faena has revealed plans to expand into the Middle East, with upcoming projects in Saudi Arabia and the wider region. Known for blending hospitality with art, design and culture, Faena’s approach goes beyond traditional hotels – think immersive destinations shaped by their surroundings.
A new chapter for the region
Rather than rolling out standard resorts, Faena is focusing on creating what it describes as “living cultural worlds” destinations that are deeply connected to their environment, heritage and future vision.
Each project is designed from the ground up to feel completely site-specific, where architecture, nature and cultural experiences all come together.
A sanctuary in the Red Sea

One of the headline projects is Faena Island Red Sea, the brand’s first island concept.
Set against the untouched coastline of the Red Sea, the development is being positioned as a retreat-style destination focused on wellness, creativity and slow living. Expect a more low-key take on luxury, where the focus is on nature, space and switching off.
A cultural destination in Diriyah

Elsewhere, in Diriyah, Faena is developing a new project in Wadi Safar.
Plans include 20 private golf course villas, along with a hotel and spa, plus cultural spaces like a Faena Theater and Faena Forum. The idea is to create a destination that’s as much about community and culture as it is about staying the night.
More to come
While these first projects are based in Saudi Arabia, more developments across the UAE are already in the pipeline. Founder Alan Faena says the aim is to create spaces where art, nature and hospitality come together, not just places to stay, but places to experience.
