“You love Dubai, and Dubai loves you back”
When nine-year-old Roger Xie wrote a heartfelt letter to HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, he probably didn’t imagine he’d get to meet the visionary leader. But that’s exactly what happened over the weekend.
In a post shared on X, Dubai Media Office captured the moment that the Ruler of Dubai met with the young boy, saying it was a ‘pleasure’ to meet Roger and his family.

Speaking in English, Sheikh Mohammed says, “I read that you love Dubai three times, Dubai loves you back.”
In the sweet exchange, Roger Xie thanks Sheikh Mohammed for, “keeping everyone safe in the UAE”, to which Sheikh Mohammed replies: “You will always be safe here.”
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed presented Roger with a signed copy of his book, as well as a pin of the UAE flag. Concluding the heartfelt conversation, Sheikh Mohammed tells Roger, “Good luck, and remember, I am your friend.”
Sheikh Mohammed spotted at Atlantis, The Palm
Over the weekend, this wasn’t the only occasion Sheikh Mohammed was seen meeting with residents. On Saturday, April 26, the Ruler of Dubai paid a visit to Atlantis, The Palm, where he headed to Nobu Dubai, the acclaimed Dubai restaurant from chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
The Vice President of the UAE warmly greeted families who were dining at the restaurant, happily stopping for photographs.
In a clip shared by Atlantis, the resort said it was a ‘pleasure’ to welcome Sheikh Mohammed back over the weekend.
