Key measures have been announced to support and ensure safety of students, their families and all educational and administrative staff
According to the UAE Government Media Office, in a post shared on April 14, 2026 on its official Instagram, an update regarding the resumption of in-person or remote learning across UAE schools and educational institutes will be announced on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
The media office urged families and the wider educational community to follow only official channels for this information to ensure clarity and accuracy of information.
Additionally, the media office also announced the launch of comprehensive programmes to prepare facilities and staff training across nurseries, schools and higher education institutions.
Field evaluations will be conducted at educational institutes by relevant ministries and local education authorities to ensure full readiness.
Clear guidance will also be put into place to ensure readiness to transition between learning modes when required. This will ensure the continuity of the education system seamlessly, which can adapt to the evolving developments.
The Education, Human Resources, and Community Development Council also announced the gradual reopening of nurseries this week, starting with those located in government premises and commercial buildings. Other nurseries can provide home-based childcare services in accordance with the approved regulations and procedures.
Today, the Ministry of Education has denied the rumours circulating on social media about the distance learning extension for schools in the UAE. The ministry stated that all updates relating to the academic calendar will be announced through its official and verified accounts only.
On March 30, 2026, schools across the UAE announced they were extending distance learning until Friday, April 17, 2026. With the extended date now just two days away, the question on every parent’s mind is if children will return to school from Monday, April 20, 2026.
The official update made tomorrow will surely provide some clarity.
