Complete with viewing towers, floating restaurants and even a crystal lagoon
Dubai’s stretching coastline might be dotted with plenty of five-star resorts and ritzy beach clubs, but if you’re simply looking to lie out a towel and work on your tan, the city’s free public beaches are the places to head. While JBR and Kite Beach are some of the city’s most popular stretches of sand, some more major public beach projects in the pipeline are set to make sun-soaked Dubai days even better.
These are the new public beaches in Dubai we can’t wait for.
Al Mamzar Corniche

The redevelopment of the Al Mamzar Corniche is now 88% complete as per the latest Dubai Municipality update, which means it won’t be long until we can explore this world-class new coastal destination. A serene spot, Al Mamzar Corniche will feature a women-only public beach, that’s fully enclosed – designed for both daytime lounging and night swimming. There will also be beachfront restaurants and cafes, walking, jogging and cycling tracks, plus a shaded skate park, fitness zones and children’s play areas, making it a fun-filled spot for all.
Umm Suqeim Beach

Announced earlier this year, the Umm Suqeim Beach megaproject will transform a 3.1 kilometre swathe of glimmering beach real estate from the Burj Al Arab to Kite Beach into an iconic new shoreline destination. The project will add 30 per cent in total beach area and developable spaces and will include a 38-metre-tall observation tower, a nod to the emirate’s proud seafaring heritage. Additionally, there will be new kids’ playgrounds, a whale sculpture and other artful attractions.
Jebel Ali Beach

Elevating fun in the sun on the edge of the city is the Jebel Ali Beach project, which will make a sandy stretch in the south of the emirate, the longest public open beach in Dubai at 6.6 km. Occupying 330 hectares of the Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary, Jebel Ali Beach will comprise three thematically distinct sites. The Pearl, located to the right, close Palm Jebel Ali, will become a centre for recreational fun with a lively family-focused seafront, sports activities, a swimming pool, kids play areas, a beach club with a pool and private (paid) beach, restaurants, cafes, shops, plus a floating restaurant “in a unique location.”The Sanctuary is an ode to the natural world. Here, indigenous animals, including nesting turtles, will be given priority of space, alongside minimum impact recreational and sports facilities. Finally, The Nest is your opportunity to explore the verdant majesty of the mangroves. There’s a careful balance of educational and entertainment experiences alongside environmental conservation.
Hatta Beach

One of a number of exciting new developments coming to Hatta is the Hatta Beach project. The human-engineered Hatta Beach ‘Crystal Lagoon’ system will stretch across a 10,000 square metre expanse, bordered by a rich melange of leisure facilities. When complete, visitors will be able to look forward to an action-packed day of wadi-hikes, kayaking trips, horse riding, mountain biking, zip-lining, axe-throwing, archery, zorbing, climbing, bodyboarding and a rucksack more alfresco fun available on the seductive scrub-dashed slopes.
