The initiative is being rolled out to help business in the food industry to thrive
If you’re on a tight budget, sometimes something as little as parking fees can change your restaurant plans. However, with this new initiative by Parkin, you can virtually park for free across various areas in Dubai starting May 1, 2026.
Parkin is the exclusive operator of paid public parking in Dubai, and they announced the launch of ‘Spots for Shops’ via their official Instagram page.
On the video, it was pointed out every day, visitors and residents drive past so many small businesses that are worth the visit.
‘In a city built for the road, parking decides where people stop,’ the video claims, ‘and where they stop decides which business survives’.
Parkin asked themselves a question: ‘What if your 250,000+ parking spots became welcome mats for small businesses?’ Its answer? The ‘Spots for Shops’ initiative.

What is the ‘Spots for Shops’ initiative about?
Essentially, drivers will be able to park next to a small business, meet a minimum spend amount, and get their parking validated at the business through the Parkin app.
In short, drivers will be able to get their parking for free by purchasing from these small businesses. The amount is credited back to their Parkin wallet.
Here’s how it works:
- Park next to a participating business in a Parkin space.
- Pay for the parking fee as per the parking zone.
- Make your purchase at the business.
- Have your parking validated by the merchant through the Parkin app.
- Receive your cashback via credits to your Parkin wallet.
And the businesses are not just limited to restaurants. Small cafes, shoe stores, a key shop, tailors, grocery stores, salons and more are all currently partaking in this scheme.
Some of the business owners who are currently on the list include Cycle 2 Cycle, Beirut Blendz, Al Embratoor, San Diego Key Cutting, Ravi Restaurant, Soam Vegetarian, Damyati Plus, The Laundry Hub and Naif Baker. And many more will join the list.
The best news? Business owners can sign up to the initiative for free, allowing them to allocate their hard-earned dirhams to other operational costs. If you are a small business owner, you can sign up to the Spots for Shops initiative here.
Speaking on the significance of the campaign, Osama AlSafi, Chief Operating Officer at Parkin said: “Small businesses play a vital role in Dubai’s economic landscape, and ‘Spot for Shops’ reflects how Parkin is reimagining parking as an enabler of urban mobility and local commerce. By seamlessly connecting parking with everyday retail experiences, we are making it easier for customers to access neighbourhood destinations while supporting local businesses and strengthening the wider ecosystem that drives the city’s growth.”
