Filming while driving could cost you Dh2,000, black points and impound, as Abu Dhabi Police issue fresh safety warning
Trying to grab the perfect video from behind the wheel might seem harmless. Abu Dhabi Police says it is anything but. Authorities have warned drivers against filming content while driving or engaging in risky behaviour like opening car doors on the move. These stunts, often done for social media attention, put lives at risk and break traffic laws.
The consequences are steep. Drivers caught endangering others face a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points and a 60 day vehicle impound. To get that car back, there is a Dh50,000 release fee.

The warning forms part of Abu Dhabi Police’s Smart Road Safety push, which focuses on making the emirate’s roads safer for everyone. Officials say chasing likes or followers is not worth the danger it creates for motorists, passengers and pedestrians.
Authorities say spreading unverified information can cause panic and disrupt public safety. It is treated as a serious offence under UAE law.
The message is clear. Be responsible on the road and online. Stick to official sources, think before you post and keep safety front of mind.
