The Nafis programme for Emiritisation has recently been extended until 2040
The UAE has announced that it will be extending the Nafis programme for Emiritisation. The announcement was made Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE’s Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. The Nafis programme is an important scheme in the UAE , but what exactly is it?
What is the Nafis programme?
The Nafis programme is a governmental federal programme aimed at advancing Emiratisation, increasing competitiveness of the Emirati human resources and empowering them to occupy jobs in the United Arab Emirates. The scheme was launched in September 2021 for a period of five years, running until the end of August 2026, and it has now been extended until 2040. Nafis initiatives cover all sectors and fields of the private sector.
The objectives are as follows:

Create a partnership between the public and the private sectors and empower the private sector to become the key driver of the UAE’s development journey

Increase the competitiveness of the Emirate human resources and enable Nationals to occupy 75,000 job opportunities in the private sector over the next five years

Create equal job opportunities in the private sector to attract Nationals

Foster the attraction of job opportunities in the private sector

Provide coaching, professional training, mentoring services, and counselling to the program participants to attract Emirate human resources to the private sector

Businesses can also receive benefits from partaking in the programme such as pension rebates and salary support.
So far,176,000 Emiratis have been employed through the programme, with 152,000 currently working in the private sector. Among the total beneficiaries, women make up 74 per cent, and 38,000 people have been supported through the children’s allowance programme.
Under Nafis, there is a strong focus on Emirati capabilities, with 32,000 companies employing national talent.
