After last months unsettled weather across the UAE, it looks like there’s more rain on the way

Forecasts are currently pointing to rain returning this week following last months weather – we saw a mix of rain, thunder and strong winds across parts of the country. While conditions have eased for now, let’s see whats on the forecast this coming week.

A look back at last month’s weather

In the early hours of Friday March 27, parts of the UAE brought heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds. Residents across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and beyond reported loud thunder overnight, with flashes of lightning lighting up the sky.

One of the standout moments saw a lightning strike near the Burj Khalifa, captured on video and widely shared across social media.

Forecast for the week

According to the National Center of Meteorology, the UAE could see spells of rain this week, with showers forecast for Monday April 6, as well as Thursday April 9 and Friday April 10. Looking slightly ahead, the Apple Weather app is also predicting more rain over the weekend, with both Dubai and Abu Dhabi expected to see showers on Saturday April 11 and Sunday April 12.

Why the weather can change quickly

While current forecasts give a good indication of what to expect, weather conditions in the UAE can shift fast. Rain systems can develop or weaken within hours, meaning some areas may see heavier showers, while others stay mostly dry. Wind speeds can also pick up suddenly, adding to the changing conditions.
