Yas Waterworld Yas Island adds 11 new rides from April 4, including the UAE’s tallest waterslide and plenty more thrills
Abu Dhabi’s favourite waterpark is about to get louder, faster and a lot more fun. Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi will reopen on April 4 with a big expansion that adds 11 new rides and attractions to the mix. At the centre of the expansion is Matamir’s Drop, the UAE’s tallest waterslide. If you thought the park already had plenty going on, this takes it up a notch. Once the new additions are live, there will be more than 70 experiences across the park. At the centre of it all is a new headline act.
Matamir’s Drop is set to become the tallest waterslide in the UAE. This waterslide will send riders plunging from over 40 metres into a 233 metre run. It is built for people who like their fun with a side of nerves.

There is more where that came from. Sahel Matamir throws riders through sharp bursts of speed and moments of zero gravity. Matamir Loop is quick and direct, the kind of ride that is over before you have fully processed what just happened. Then there is Matamir Twist with its flashing lights, and Matamir Splash, where you can race your friends and argue about who actually won.
Not everything is about the adrenaline. The expansion also brings in Sarab, a new leisure pool that is made for slowing things down, and Al Afda, a jump platform for anyone brave enough to take the plunge.
The update continues the park’s Lost City theme, tied to its long-running story of The Lost Pearl, but this one feels less about the story and more about the action. If your April plans need a shake-up, this is a solid place to start.
