UAE weather looks set for another spell of rain this week

After a stretch of mixed weather conditions across the country, forecasts are pointing to another round of showers on Tuesday March 31, rolling into the early hours of Wednesday April 1. It follows last week’s spells of rain, thunder and gusty winds that hit parts of the UAE. For now, skies are calmer – but here’s what could be on the way next.

When is the rain expected?

Current forecasts from the Apple Weather app and Weather Radar app suggest showers will fall at different times across the UAE on Tuesday.

In Abu Dhabi, light rain is expected early in the morning from around 5am, with another window likely between 2pm and 4pm.

Dubai is set to see rain later in the day, with showers forecast from around 6pm, continuing into the early hours of Wednesday (around 2am), with a few breaks in between.

As always, forecasts can shift, so timings may change slightly closer to the day.

What happened last week?

If last week is anything to go by, conditions can ramp up quickly.

In the early hours of Friday March 27, heavy rain and thunderstorms swept across parts of the UAE, with strong winds reported in several areas. Residents in Dubai and Abu Dhabi woke up to loud thunder and flashes of lightning lighting up the sky.

One of the most talked-about moments saw a lightning strike near the Burj Khalifa, with videos quickly making the rounds online.

Why forecasts can change

Weather in the UAE can be unpredictable, especially during these transitional periods. Systems can build or fade within hours, meaning some areas might see steady rain while others barely get a drizzle.

Wind conditions can also shift quickly, which is why it’s always a good idea to check live updates before heading out.
