Dubai is building a city made for walking

Dubai Walk has officially begun, with phase one launching in Al Ras as part of a wider plan to create over 6,000km of walkways across the emirate. This first phase will introduce 12km of pedestrian paths and 5km of cycling tracks, along with shaded walkways, wider pavements and improved navigation, all while preserving the district’s historic character. The project supports Dubai’s vision of a more connected, walkable city where everyday essentials are within easy reach.
Petrol prices
As the end of the month approaches, many of us will be keeping an eye on the upcoming petrol price announcement. Prices are typically revealed on the last day of the month and take effect at the start of the next. With 2026 already seeing shifts in fuel prices, the outlook for April remains uncertain. Distance learning
Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has confirmed that all private schools, nurseries, and universities in the emirate will continue with distance learning until Friday, April 3. The directive remains in place in line with guidance from the Education, Human Development and Community Council, with in-person classes not resuming for now. While some schools have submitted requests to return to campus earlier, any decision will be made on a case-by-case basis. Institutions must formally apply with clear justification, and all requests will be reviewed by the Ministry of Education, which will make the final call based on safety and regulatory guidelines.
Abu Dhabi announces major new transport upgrade

Abu Dhabi Mobility and the Department of Municipalities and Transport have opened two new marine bridges connecting Al Reem Island to the E12, aimed at easing congestion and improving connectivity. The Dhs450 million project is expected to cut travel times by up to 15 minutes during peak hours, with the infrastructure designed to handle thousands of vehicles per hour and include pedestrian and cycling tracks.
