Safety authorities urge residents to prioritise caution and adhere to guidelines as wet weather conditions persist
The UAE has issued a weather update, with rain, thunderstorms and even the chance of hail expected across parts of the country over the coming days. The weather is expected to remain this way from Monday, March 23 to Friday, 27 March 27, 2026.
Dubai is expected to experience unstable weather from:

In order to keep the public safe, the Dubai Resilience Center has released some safety guidelines for us to follow:
- Stay away from valleys, flood-prone areas, and places where rainwater may accumulate
- Stay away from mountainous areas
- Avoid going to the sea
- Exercise caution while driving and reduce speed (see more below)
The center urged the public to follow official channels and government authorities for accurate information and timely updates, and to contact the below emergency services when needed.

What’s the forecast for the week?
Both Dubai and Abu Dhabi are set for a cloudy, rainy week ahead, with the heaviest rainfall expected over the next few days.
In Dubai from today, Monday March 23, there is a high chance of rain and possible thunderstorms. Temperatures will range between 25°C and 28°C during the day, with lows between 21°C and 22°C. Rain continues through to Friday, with daily chances staying high, before conditions begin to ease into the weekend with breezy but drier weather expected from Saturday.
In Abu Dhabi, a similar pattern is expected, with rain and isolated thunderstorms starting today and continuing throughout the week. Rainfall chances peak early in the week, with temperatures slightly higher than Dubai, reaching highs between 27°C and 33°C, and lows between 20°C and 22°C. Conditions begin to clear by the weekend, with sunshine returning from Saturday.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority also shared some reassurance via its official social media X in light of the current weather conditions affecting the country.
It stated that the sounds that may accompany the rain such as thunder ‘are normal and expected under such weather conditions.’
It added that, ‘in the event of any threat, warning and instructions will be issued immediately through the National Early Warning System to ensure everyone’s safety.’
The NCEMA urged everyone to obtain information only from official sources and to refrain from spreading rumours.
Traffic fines to avoid while driving in the rain in Dubai
Key fines and rules to watch out for in rainy conditions:
- Driving with your hazard lights on – Dhs500 fine and 4 black points
- Using your phone while driving – Dhs800 fine and 4 black points.
- Blocking emergency services – Dhs1,000 with 4 black points, and your vehicle can be impounded for 60 days.
- Ignoring temporary speed limits
- Changing lanes without signalling – Dhs400 fine.
