The World Trade Centre road diversions could affect your travels
If you pass by the Dubai World Trade Centre area, you would have noticed the massive changes taking places to the road network. This is because of a Dhs696 million road-work project called the Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project. The major project has one goal: to enhance traffic flow and connectivity in a busy neighbourhood.
Work has been going on since November 2024 in phases and just this month, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) opened a 1km bridge serving traffic from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street towards Al Karama and Deira.
In order for the next phase to carry on, RTA has announced a temporary road diversion that could affect your journey.
In an official social media post, RTA announced that there will be traffic diversions in the direction of 2nd December Street from the bridge to Trade Centre Roundabout.
The post added that, ‘Traffic on Al Majlis Street heading towards Trade Centre Roundabout will be diverted to Zabeel Palace Street.’
The road diversions will start from Sunday, March 15, 2026.
RTA urges everyone to plan their journeys in advance and to follow traffic signs to ensure a smooth journey and arrival.
It is scheduled for completion in October 2026.
