What is Eid Al Fitr?
Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and celebrates the completion of a month of fasting. The name translates to “festival of breaking the fast”, and it falls on the first day of Shawwal, the month that follows Ramadan in the Islamic calendar.
It’s one of the most important celebrations of the year in the UAE, bringing communities together for special prayers, festive meals and time spent with family and friends. Many residents mark the occasion with generous feasts, sweet treats and gatherings that continue late into the evening.
