Abu Dhabi rolls out a free, confidential mental health helpline to support residents facing anxiety, stress or emotional distress
If you are feeling overwhelmed, there is now someone on the other end of the line. Abu Dhabi has activated a 24 hour mental health support hotline, 800-SAKINA (725462). This hotline is offering free and confidential help to anyone who needs it. The service runs around the clock in both Arabic and English and connects callers directly to qualified mental health professionals.
The hotline is managed by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi in partnership with Sakina, a specialist mental health network operating under SEHA, a subsidiary of PureHealth. It provides psychological first aid and immediate guidance for residents dealing with anxiety, panic attacks, acute stress, sleep problems or any other mental health concern. There is also dedicated support for children and families.
Those already living with a diagnosed mental health condition can call for tailored advice, especially during periods of heightened anxiety or major life changes. Health authorities say the hotline forms part of a wider effort to make mental health support easier to access and quicker to reach. They aim to provide practical, immediate help and ensure every resident knows support is available whenever they need it.
The message is simple. You do not have to carry it alone.
If you are struggling, experts also recommend sticking to regular routines where possible. It’s also helpful to stay connected to family and friends, limiting exposure to distressing or unverified news, and reaching out for help when things feel too heavy.
The hotline number again is 800-SAKINA (725462). It is free, confidential and open 24 hours a day.
