Veteran soft rock ballardsmith, Richard Marx has announced his first ever gig in the Middle East.
You may remember him from literally any late 80s or early 90s rom com film soundtracks. You may remember him from his silky era-defining mullet, the first slow dance song at the teen disco, or the underrated 80s prodigal son story ‘Hazard’. The American singer-songwriter is verified hall-of-famer, he is the only male artist in history whose first seven singles all reached the Billboard Top 5, has amassed a total of 14 No.1 singles over his career, 45 million in album sales, and one billion streams. And whilst he’s probably best known for his early output – the hit parade has not stopped marching.
Now and Forever
Richard Marx is one of just two artists, alongside Michael Jackson, to have written a No. 1 song in four different decades. His career in songwriting and production credits has been equally prolific with collaborations on tracks for Luther Vandross (the GRAMMY-winning “Dance with My Father”), Keith Urban, *NSYNC, Barbra Streisand, and Kenny Rogers.
His Dubai gig, taking place this October 3 at Coca-Cola Arena, will be his first ever in the Middle East, courtesy of organisers All Things Live Middle East.
Talking about the landmark concert, Richard Marx said: “I couldn’t be more excited and looking forward to playing in Dubai for the very first time. The band and I will make sure it’s a night to remember.”
