And tickets are selling out fast
If you’ve been meaning to see it, this is your cue. After a spellbinding run that’s had Dubai Opera audiences defying gravity night after night, WICKED the Musical is taking its final bow in the city this weekend. With just a handful of performances left, it’s the last chance to experience the untold story of the witches of Oz live on stage before the curtain falls.
If you’re still thinking about it, consider this your friendly nudge. Tickets are disappearing faster than a flying broomstick. Blink and it’ll be Sunday night, the final curtain will fall, and you’ll be left wondering why you didn’t just book the seats.
Here’s why you can’t miss the show

Our mini review of show: From the moment the curtain rises, WICKED casts its spell and doesn’t loosen its grip. ‘Ga-linda’ is a standout, leaning fully into the role with pitch-perfect comic timing and sparkle to spare, while the sets are nothing short of spectacular, layered with detail so there’s always something new to discover. The songs soar, the surprises kept coming, and by the final bow, it leaves you with that familiar, dangerous thought: maybe I should book tickets again.
(If you want to be surprised – skip this paragraph) A big magical highlight? It will include a spellbinding scene where a witch flies over the audience – a first for any WICKED production. If you’ve seen The Phantom of the Opera, this is the equivalent of the iconic chandelier drop at the end of Act 1. ‘Ooooh!’, right?!
Let’s consider it a little gift for having to wait this long to see the magic live on stage here in Dubai.
What’s WICKED the Musical about?
Wicked the Musical Dubai
Wicked tells the story of Oz before Dorothy arrives, exploring the unlikely friendship between two very different young women.
Elphaba, born with green skin, is intelligent, outspoken and determined to stand up for what she believes in, while Glinda is popular, ambitious and effortlessly adored by everyone around her.
As they navigate school, society and their own ambitions, their friendship is tested by misunderstandings, rivalries and the pressures of a world that judges them harshly.
Their journeys ultimately shape them into the iconic Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Liz Koops, producer and CEO of Broadway Entertainment Group, shared: “It is a true honour to bring WICKED the Musical to the Middle East. This is a history-in-the-making moment, and we are proud to produce such an iconic theatrical spectacle and present it to an audience of avid musical fans in the region.”
Stephen Schwartz, composer and lyricist of WICKED, added: “I’m delighted that WICKED is coming to Dubai, where it hasn’t been seen before. This new production brings its own vitality and creativity, while continuing to tell our story of friendship, love and having the courage to be true to yourself and stand up for what you believe in.”

Our top favourite witches of all time
Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
She is known as the Queen, but she checks all the boxes of a witch; practising dark magic, mixing potions in a dungeon, owning a talking mirror, brewing poisons and cursing delicious apples. Don’t know about you, but as kids, we definitely hid under the covers during her scenes.
Hocus Pocus (1993)
Hocus Pocus
Three gloriously unhinged witches – the Sanderson sisters – return from the dead to wreak chaos on Salem, powered by dark magic and sibling bickering. Winifred leads with theatrical menace, Sarah floats through spells and songs, and Mary charges ahead with her nose to the ground. Spells fly, candles glow and chaos reigns until dawn breaks.
Harry Potter (2001-2011)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
This list wouldn’t be complete without Harry Potter. The magical world created by J.K. Rowling may have ended, but it is still adored by millions around the globe through her books and the eight-film series. We love Harry, Ron and the countless other characters, but this time, we’re shining the spotlight on Hermione, whose razor-sharp intellect, spell work, bravery and loyalty helped carry the story and captured our hearts.
