Major RTA upgrades boost capacity, slash delays and keep traffic moving smoothly between Arabian Ranches, Dubai Studio City and beyond.

If you regularly travel around Arabian Ranches and Studio City, take note – your commute just got a whole lot quicker. As of February 8, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened a brand-new bridge on Al Qudra Road.

The newly launched 600-metre, four-lane bridge sits at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and the link road connecting Arabian Ranches with Dubai Studio City. It forms part of a wider development project along one of Dubai’s busy east–west corridors, stretching from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road, and continuing all the way along Al Qudra Road.

With the newly opened bridge, traffic capacity increases by 191 per cent, rising from 6,600 vehicles per hour to 19,200, while waiting times have been cut by more than half (55% to be precise), from 113 seconds down to just 52. For residents and commuters in nearby communities, that translates into smoother journeys and far fewer delays.

There are more improvements on the way, too. On February 15, the RTA will open the northern bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. The 700-metre structure provides two lanes in each direction and will serve traffic heading towards Al Qudra City and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, with further works continuing on the southern bridge.

The Al Qudra Road Development Project is designed to keep pace with Dubai’s rapid urban growth. Once complete, the wider project will include 2.7km of bridges, road widening across 11.6km, and upgrades to several key intersections. Journey times along the corridor are expected to drop by up to 70 per cent from 9.4 minutes to just 2.8 minutes.

The improvements will benefit major residential and lifestyle hubs, including Arabian Ranches 1 and 2, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Studio City, DAMAC Hills, Mudon, The Sustainable City and Town Square, serving an estimated 400,000 residents and visitors.
