If you needed another excuse to plan an evening at Global Village, this might just be it
The much-loved outdoor attraction is turning up the wow factor with extra fireworks and a special drone show, all timed around the colourful Emirati celebration of Hag Al Laila.
Here’s what’s happening.
Fireworks, but make it extra
Global Village will be lighting up the skies with an additional fireworks display, giving visitors even more reason to linger after dark. The show will take place on Saturday evening, 30 January at 9pm, and the best bit? You don’t need to camp out in one spot, the fireworks can be seen from all around the park.
A drone show with a festive twist
The following night on Sunday January 31, things get even more impressive. A Hag Al Laila-themed drone show will take over the sky at 9.05pm, with choreographed drones creating patterns and scenes above the park. It’s the kind of thing that stops everyone mid-walk (phones immediately out).
Sweet treats for kids
Children will be given free sweets during the four-day celebration. Traditionally, the occasion sees kids singing and visiting neighbours in exchange for treats, and Global Village is bringing that feel-good tradition to life.
Traditional touches you’ll spot around the park
Expect more than just shows. Over the celebrations, the park will feature heritage-inspired decorations, a traditional majlis to explore, and plenty of nods to local culture. There are also creative workshops and activities for children, making it an easy win for families.
