Restaurant review: Flamingo Room by Tashas

Flamingo Room by Tashas is a blush-pink world with flavour and flair in all the right places

The Spot

Flamingo Room by Tashas sits on Al Maryah Island like a graceful bird balancing on one leg, elegant without trying and impossible to ignore. It’s part of the wider Flamingo Collection, where a restaurant, champagne bar, luxury retail space and event lounge all share the same roof but each carries its own personality. The dining room is pure charm. Soft blush tones, hand-blown glass, floor-to-ceiling windows and just enough sparkle to remind you that elegance can be playful too. The African touches are thoughtful rather than loud, little reminders that the continent holds glamour as easily as it holds grit. Even the retail store pulls you in with pieces from South Africa, India and Colombia that feel curated rather than collected. You walk in and the world gets a shade pinker in the best way.

Walking through the space, I felt an unexpected swell of pride. The bespoke pieces from South Africa weren’t just decor. They felt like a quiet nod to where this brand comes from and to the kind of beauty the continent creates when it isn’t being boxed into tired ideas of bush and safari.

The Vibe

A DJ spins a mix that sits right in the sweet spot. It’s cool enough to keep your shoulders swaying but gentle enough to let you finish a sentence. The room hums with good energy. It feels polished, warm and relaxed, like a long lunch that somehow turns into dinner.

The Food and Drinks

The French onion and goat cheese tart arrived looking harmless but tasted like a love letter to comfort. The caramelised onions were sweet, the goat cheese added a soft tang and the truffle honey grapes made it all feel a little naughty.

Then came the scallops on cauliflower cream with beef pancetta and parmesan. Each bite was smooth and smoky with just the right level of richness, and the truffle brioche on the side didn’t stand a chance.

The sea bass and scallops were cooked to perfection. Paired with truffle mash and a vin blanc sauce, it was clean, delicate and deeply satisfying. The crab fettuccine followed the same rule. Fresh pasta, silky bisque, tomato and dill working together like they had been rehearsing all week.

The Service

Warm smiles, easy conversations and that rare talent of making you feel like you’ve arrived at your favourite place even if it’s your first visit.

What’s On Verdict

Flamingo Room glides with the ease of its namesake. The food feels familiar but polished, every plate thoughtful without being fussy. It’s graceful, confident and full of quiet charm, the kind of restaurant that makes you feel a little softer around the edges.
