Although Max Verstappen from Red Bull Racing picked up the win in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this year, it was Lando Norris from McLaren who walked home with the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship title.
And while McLaren had the fastest car on the grid this year, everything can change next season. With new regulations coming in, Formula 1 is entering a fresh era where anything can happen. Teams are reworking aerodynamics, power units are evolving, and technical rules are shaking up the grid – promising plenty of drama on track.
Other changes to expect
Unlike the 2025 season, which saw six rookies join the grid, 2026 will welcome just one new driver: Arvid Lindblad, who is joining the Racing Bulls alongside Liam Lawson.
Lindblad replaces Isack Hadjar, whose impressive 2025 performance earned him a promotion to Red Bull Racing alongside Verstappen. Unfortunately, this also meant saying farewell to Yuki Tsunoda from Red Bull Racing.
Formula 1 roars back for the 2026 season with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne from March 6 to 8, kicking off a packed 24-race calendar. The season finale lands in Abu Dhabi, promising a high-octane finish with plenty happening both on and off the track — including the after-race concerts.
